SHARM Tutorial: Getting Started - Part 2

This SHARM tutorial explains how to work with Stages, Global Brainwave Entrainment, Global Bilateral Sound and the Playback Controls.

Stages
When you create a new session, SHARM automatically divides the session into several stages.

You can change the length of the stage by dragging a stage separator.

Press the “Edit Stages” button.

You can add, delete or rename a stage in the session.

You can change the order of the stages.

Brainwave Entrainment
Brainwave Entrainment helps the listener to get into a deep relaxation state.

Create a Tone segment.

Click the Brainwaves tab to change the Brainwave Entrainment settings for this segment.

The Brainwave Entrainment option is enabled in the Tone segment. In all other segment types, this option is initially disabled.

Press the “Test” button to play the Tone segment. If you’re listening with stereo headphones, you can hear the Binaural Beat effect.

Create a Music segment.

Click “Enable Brainwaves” to add Brainwave Entrainment to the Music segment.

Press the “Test” button to play the Music segment.

The global entrainment frequency is initially set to 4 Hertz, or 4 cycles per second.

Press the “Edit Global Brainwave Entrainment” button on the top toolbar.

Draw a graph that controls the global entrainment frequency during the session.

Close the graph window.

SHARM displays the changing Global Brainwave Entrainment frequency in the control display.

Bilateral Sound
Bilateral Sound helps the brain hemispheres to function harmoniously together and allows hypnotherapists to implement EMDR protocols.

Click “Enable Bilateral” to add Bilateral Sound to the Music segment.

Press the “Test” button to play the Music segment.

You can hear that the sound is moving from side to side, one cycle per second, or 60 cycles per minute.

SHARM displays the current bilateral rate during the playback.

Press the “Edit Global Bilateral” button on the top toolbar.

Draw a graph that controls the global bilateral rate during the session.

Close the graph window.

SHARM displays the changing Global Bilateral Rate in the control display.

Playback Controls
Click on the timeline to set the Start Play Position marker. When you press the “Play” button, SHARM starts to play the session from the marker position.

Press the “Pause” button to pause the playback. Press the “Play” button to resume the playback.

Press the “Stop” button to stop the playback.

Use “Rewind”, “Previous” and “Next” buttons to quickly set the Start Play Position marker on the timeline.
